Craigslist is good for many things, including umbrella etiquette. When it is raining, drizzling or there is even the possibility of rain, all pedestrians should follow the following guidelines:
1. Please leave your patio umbrellas in storage or attached to said patio table. You ego maniacs do not need to take up a 10 ft radius of dry space.
2. If you choose to ignore Rule #1, please have the common courtesy to raise your patio umbrella when sharing sidewalk space with other umbrella-carriers. Not doing so will result in umbrella fender benders and will block traffic behind you, causing both coffee and people to spill.
3. If wearing a rain parka, hat, and a hood, please leave your umbrella at home. Once again, dry space is limited and you have already established your necessary space.
4. If it is determined that you need an umbrella, please do not then hog overhangs or awnings. Once again, you have a fucking umbrella, so please reserve limited dry space for the poor schleps who do not.
5. Please, for the love of god, if you have spiky metal points shooting out of your umbrella, use extra caution when cutting people off, etc. or just fucking buy a new $3 umbrella - they are everywhere.
6. (this is my own) if you are traveling with another person who also has an umbrella DO NOT walk next to each other. Be kind walk in a single file, just like elementary school.
----I hate the rain.
Have a nice night.

Diet Coke...Plus?
Yes, now Coca-Cola has made me feel even better about my Coke addiction with the new & improved Diet Coke Plus! (Now with vitamins and minerals). So you can bet when I made my twilight 7-11 run this morning after writing a paper all night, I sampled this deliciousness.
I really should stop drinking Coke, but its the one habit I cannot seem to break. I could blame it on the parents for supplying it to me thoughout my childhood, but I think its more of a lack of self-will. Plus now drinking Coke is healthy...yeah.
Paper #2 is almost complete. I have an extension until tomorrow, but will probably send it in tonight. And no work today, so I'm going to enjoy the beautiful DC weather and head out to lunch.
The end of the tunnel that is finals, is close yet so far away.
May 2: Paper #3, Final #1
May 7: Paper #4, Final #2
May 8: Final #3
May 9: Final #4
May 14: Final #5
Ooh and in between I need to find a place to live next year, start training for my summer jobs AND of course enjoy the end of the semester. I love finals.

Damn You Catherine de' Medici!
While I may not boast the highest fashion sense or the most graceful walk of all of female kind, I can handle a pair of heels if I do say so myself. However when walking several blocks on a daily basis to my office it becomes almost painful to keep those work heels on and the temptation to walk barefoot grows. Then I realize that while DC is generally a very clean city, walking barefoot in its streets cannot be good for anyone's health. But I digress.
I would like to thank this woman for officially making my life hell. While one can applaud her politiking with the English crown in the 16th century I'd have to give a big thumbs down for the creation of the high heeled shoe. Who cares how short she was!?
Obviously Catherine meant no intentional harm to future generations of strong women in the workplace, but its hard to not be mad when beauty causes pain. The requirements of women in the workplace are difficult because not only do you have to be good at what you do, but there is the constant nagging of what to wear. I'm sure many ladies will agree, while a man can go to sleep at night and not spend a single second on what he is wearing, being a woman means picking that outfit out (at least in your head) the night before and waking up the next morning and making it work. (Thank you Tim Gunn for that) Then comes the requirements of variety, trying to not be seen in the same outfit too often and the inevitable decision of shoes. OMG shoes!
Well I guess its time to invest in some flats.
Its Thursday!

The Beginning of the Beginning
So I return to the world of blogging from the days of high school livejournaling and poor grammar. Well at least the livejournaling part is out...
I have no idea where this will lead me, but it feels good to get some thoughts out in the open. I live in Washington. I am a student, soon to be senior and I've recently been confronted with the reality that I need to decide what to do with my life, or at least what to do to pay off these outrageous student loans. (I'm sure the outrageous loans gives everyone a BIG hint about where Miss Mount Vernon goes to school).
Here's to new beginnings! Cheers!
